NORTHERNS WHITBY WEEKEND

The Northerners had another weekend out to the little town of Whitby due to the success of last years trip, the campsite is a nice one and close to local amenities ( yeah I used to be an Estate Agent ) that means pubs!! Yet again due to rockin’ out on Friday night I tipped up on Saturday mid day, putting my spanking new tent up next to Budda and Rachels monster tent.

The rest of the clan had gone for a rideout and came back around 4ish, when they got back we nattered about what to do for scoff and had a bit of Rachels Araldite ( LOVELY ) , as the difference this year was that the pub down the road had closed so we decided to go into Whitby at night for grub and grog.

After some minor adjustments to appearences we trogged off and found a curry house where we had some real nice food at a decent price and had a beer or two…..then - this is where this report gets a bit tricky, as we went into a pub, we got some seats and watched as a hen do came in, nothing new there, but the girls had some pegs and were putting them on strangers clothes, well that got us hooked - good clean daft fun, I’m afraid you HAD to be there but it was very funny-think we’ll have to bring some pegs to the next weekend, I was crying with laughter and so were the others, anyhow, we left at some time o’clock and piled into a quiet pub near the campsite, we stayed ‘til chucking out time and straggled back to a very quiet campsite.

I was confused as last time the jolly VRA were making a right racket, but boy it was cold, and this may be the reason bods were in their beds and not sat freezing to death on camp chairs, I had a thin layer of ice on my tent and was regretting not pulling some 65 year old bird to snuggle next to, I have never been so cold on a night, even though I’ve wild camped in the Scottish mountains in winter I was bloody frozen.

During the night I needed a piddle but wasn’t getting out of the tent so widdled in a plastic bag and showed Paddi the lovely smelly contents in the morning, note next time take a decent doss bag not a thin sleeping bag ( ooops ). In the morning we went for brekkie at a greasy spoon, and then went back and packed, we said our goodbyes and headed off back home, the young ‘un with a peg on her jacket!!!!!!!!!!!, a few of us stopped on the A64 for a brew then went home….all in all another  great weekend, well organised, well oiled and enjoyed by all those who went….roll on Belgium.
