Have been a member of VRA for nearly 3 years and not met anyone from the club! Defence as follows. Self employed, have to work when the works there, had tent and gear packed ready for the off for, How many Vulcan's under a Vulcan? But had to change plans at last minute to finish a job and get paid! Attended toy run for Sally Army, but did not spot any VRA members (should have been 3 there) Excuse two, poorly wife with bad arthritis who has not ridden pillion since 1983 (touring/ camping in France on a Z650, Brill!) Excuse 3 Weather is usually crap!

Right, now the good stuff. I traded my Bandit 1200 in for a Vulcan 1600 Classic in 2007, (first Cruiser) spotted the VRA North Carolina web site and was impressed enough to change bike. To test the bike I did 3,500 miles round coast in 2007 (wettest June on record) and decided to write a book about same. My first attempt, hope to finish in early August this year. AM ATTENDING international rally on 23rd July, come work, swine flue, flood, famine or death. Hope to get a good report on rally and include it in the book for ending. The book is the trip, autobiography ( which contains a lot of dewy eyed surprises!) and a brill write up on the Vulcan. Only problem is not too sure about publishing yet, whether to self publish, or approach publisher, set up web site etc. If you know anyone who has done it would be grateful for any info. I can do a brief run down on the trip and history for the club if its suitable, but don't want to give too much of book content away.

Keep thinking I am too old for all this motorbiking malarkey (58) until I get back in the saddle and I am at peace and happiness with the world once more!

I am married to Liz, who I love immeasurably, have one daughter who has piled grief untold on our shoulders for the last 28 years, and have three grandchildren who have been a shining light in times of darkness!

I was a freelance mechanic for 17 years (cars) before the dreaded ECUs and seal everything technology kyboshed the trade. Am now into property repairs, ( 5 years) plumbing, decorating, tiling,  small bits of garden landscaping, and more. Usually only work on recommendation and don't charge the earth, not a plea for work, just outlining the modus operandi!

I like a drink without going mad and too let my hair down when I can (what bit I have left!)
